MRWALLEYE2005
Is there a way to use the Vexilar Fl-8 for summer fishing? Ive seen them on tv use it on Linders Edge show, do I have to get a different transducer? Can it be switched for summer and ice fishing use? Captain B.R.K
Actually I took my FL-18 and mounted it on my boat for summer fishing. There is a kit that you buy at your local VEXLAR dealar to make you have a set-up for your boat. Actually there is 2 kits, transom or bow mount kit. I went with the bow mount kit and is real slick! I ended up picking up a Johnny ( I think that is what they are called) quick release bracket so I can take it on/off when I want. Tight lines. BDR
Yep I use the skimmer transducer on the transom and have my Vex mounted on the dash. I use that when I am cruising high speed and anchored.
early007
I think all you need is transducer mounted on your boat and a bracket mount for the Vexilar. You can set it all up for less than $100. They work great mounted on the boat, best flasher units on the market.Jason Erlandson
Mr.Seaguar
Call me a hillbilly, but I just throw the iceducer over the side and fishaway. This is just for verical fishing tho. I dont use it trolling with the iceducer.
pikehunter
I definitely won't call you a hillbilly. I fish from a canoe and just set the iceducer on the floor. It reads right through!
EBass
I have my FL-18 on my jon boat. I got a high speed ducer kit for $60 on my transom. Then I got a GPS RAM mount that I use for my vex for about $15. So far so good. I love my vex!
I'llTakeWhatiCanGet
I currently use the ice ducer over the side of the canoe also, but it doesn't give a good reading when you are moving along. They make a puck type transducer with a suction cup to stick to your boat that works real nice, i had one, but i lost it. I guess it just depends on what you want the vex to do for you.Tight linesporter
united jigsticker
Hey, depending on the flatness of your canoe floor, you might want to try putting a bit of water on the bottom of the canoe, and setting the ducer in the puddle. You may be surprsied at how well it works!
