busted by the noise of my draw

I was sitting on stand tonight and just at the end of shooting hours, a large Doe came crashing out of the woods 6 feet away from me. I was on the ground behind some cover. Because she was so close, when I drew back, she heard the minor noise of the arrow drawing back through my Whisker Bisket. She bolted 1 second before I could aim. Any suggestions?

Also, I have not seen many deer moving during daylight. I know there is a lot of activity during the night. The moon is not going to be very helpful for the next 20 days. Anyone else seeing more movement than I am (I hunt edges of corn and small patches of woods around farm country).

If I was you I would get rid of that bisket deal and buy a good drop away rest, no noise at all.I also hunt on the edge of corn , well between the corn and a small river.I have been using a bleat call and seeing a few deer come into that, both baldies and with head gear, just nothing real big yet.

I don't know about the whisker biscut. But what you want to do is pull back your bow when it is colder out before you go out. You'll get that first creak out of it and then be ready for that buck/doe that walks 6 yds in front of you next time.

I have a drop away rest as well- well worth the investment.

I had that happen in 1996. A young buck at 9 feet broadside looking away. Me sitting on a tree seat with feet on the ground. He had no idea I was there. I decided to shoot him but my arrow made a slight noise on by rest at 3/4 draw and it was bolt city. I got him in 1997 and he tasted dandy. grin.gif
