jerkin'm
Any stipulations on the amount you can bring with? I put some canadaian gas (from the reservation by nestor falls) in my sled last winter and it stunk, don't want the same for my boat. GunDr
I've never had customs ask about gas. I just got back(went through Rainy River). I had two 6 gallon motor tanks full and two six gallon gas cans full, in the boat, there for them to see. They said good luck and be safe.GunDr
Benny
You are allowed any amount your boat tank will hold, that does not include any extra non permanent boat cans though.Only the permanent or the first portable can.I heard that if you have extra cans in the truck you can claim one as a safety can because your traveling to a remote area, but not sure on that one.We got checked for gas a few years back when thier gas prices were realy high in comparison to ours here.We just had to pay duty on the extra gas not in the permanent tanks!Benny
danglin
We've taken gas across quite a bit due to have a 4-wheeler and two boats in Canada during the summer and Snowmobiles left up there in the winter. The only time they've ever made an issue of it has been when we've had nothing in tow or in the truck that uses gas. We've gone as far as to load a lawn mower in the back of the truck with the gas, and if they ask, we tell them it's for the mower, but they've never specified an amount that is acceptable. Although they may look twice if you're hauling 6 6-gal. cans for a push mower. HaHa.Good luck fishing,Rick
lumpy
Last time I was up I asked the same question in I-Falls at a gas station. The local there said Ontario did away with those regs so you can take up as much gas as you want. It does make it confusing if you don't go up there every year and don't follow the regs. anchor man
We always bring all of our gas across the border about 100 gallons and sometimes have had to pay a fee, but still much cheaper than buying it up there
Benny
We got searched going in and they didn't say a word about the 4 cans we had. They were just looking for meth dealers and illegal stuff this year.I had expired tabs, a case of beer and frozen bait so I hit thier three flags to do a search, but the guy was real nice about it.He didn't tear the truck apart at all, just opened some duffle bags and made us open the boat cover.Benny
