Lac Seul?

Recommended Posts

Looking to put together the best possible drive-in/boat-in trip for next June for 4-6 people. I am leaning towards Lac Seul, but I heard the water level this year was down 4+ feet and I am wondering how that effected fishing. Anyone have any info or advice I would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!

Fish Head,

I boated in to Lac Seul Outpost last July. Water level was low but you follow their guide boat and they have the area marked fairly well for hazards. The fishing is awesome. We could catch walleyes and pike right off the dock!! Not to tuff to find walleyes in Lac Seul.

Thanks for the info! This all sounds good to me. I was wondering if the low water level affected things, but it sure doesn't sound like it. We are looking at Lac Seul Outpost and Ojibway Outfitters near Chamberlain Narrows. I thind we will be going near the end of June.

What did you use for bait? Were you jigging with plastics? Did you have any live bait?

Fish Head,

I've been to Lac Suel 2 times and never used live bait. I used plastic grubs for jigging and power worms on spinners behind a bottom bouncer. Fishing around Chamberlain Narrows is awesome and it is not difficult to catch lots of fish.

Hi guys!

I'm new to this Canada Forum...I have been fishing Lake Vermilion MN for the last couple years. I was just trying to set up a trip that will be that "trip of a lifetime" for my father, brother, and myself. I have heard many great things about Lac Seul, and from what you guys are saying it is awesome. I have been trying to decide between a drive to resort or a fly-in resort somewhere in Canada. I want to make this trip special to say thanks to the two people who taught me how to fish (my dad and brother). Any suggestions on resorts? Is there any time of year that is better than others? We like to fish for walleyes, northerns, and muskie.

Thanks,

Fishinglund

Hey Fishing Lund,

I am looking for the same thing. I am looking to take my 11 year old son on the best fishing trip I can possibly find to creat memories. I have never been there, but from what I am hearing Lac Seul is as good as it gets. I am in the process of booking a trip to Lac Seul Outfitters in the Chamberlain Narrows area. If anyone knows of any better drive-in/boat-in trip, I'm all ears!!

I would second Lac Seul outposts. Our group has been going for about 15 yrs. We always go in the end of june. This year we only got to fish one day because of the huge forest fire. however in the one day we caught a 10 1/2 pound walleye and 20 pound pike. The fishing around their camp is great, so even people new to the area can catch lots of fish without have to travel far. Kenny will always take good care of you. However from what I remember trying to book a time can be very difficult, with all the repeat customers. Good Luck

Does anyone know where I can purchase a great map of Lac Seul??

Fish head,

When you get to the camp, they will have a map for you. they will even mark the spots that will put you on the type of fish you are going after. Get used to the idea of pike hitting the walleye you are bringing in, because it happens alot. Good Luck to ya

They do provide a free copied map that kinda sucks but they do sell a much better map at the camp store. I brought my own which was the same as the one they sold. I purchased mine at Thorne Bros. One thing nice about the camp is that you don't need to travel far to catch walleyes. But if you get adventurous by all means get the good map and have a GPS. It's a big lake with lots of islands. You'll have a great time up there!!

Fish Head -
I was on Lac Suel this past Sept. Wow is all I can say. I will also be there over this coming fourth of July. I stay with my crew at Fisherman's Cove Resort. We strictly used minnows and had no problem catching 100+ fish per day per boat. We mainly drag spinners but found spots to jig them also. Be prepared for rough water! Also have a GPS with you, this is truly a lifesaver. Have fun, and maybe I will see you on the water!
