"harvest"

Recommended Posts

Why does professionals and most of the hunting community use the word "harvest" when they describe the taking of game animals? The only situation where the word "harvest" should ever be use is where the hunter is actually shooting planted game animals in enclosed game farms.

I'm guilty... I use the word harvest.

In Websters Dictionary is has..

Harvest noun.
The art of gathering in a crop.

To gather in a natural product as if by harvesting.

The product or reward of exertion...

In my opinion I think the word harvest works for hunting often times. I also think its a more politically correct term. Any time we as sportsmen don't fuel the fire of the anti, we are doing ourselves a favor...

I personally dont use the word however I can honestly say I have never debated the use of it in reference to taking an animal. I think the statement about less fuel on the fire hits home on the matter.
