ski_otter
Trying to figure out which one to get, and figure out the differences that the extra $100 ish gets with the JM For practical purposes size is the same. Here's what I have so far. Bigfoot Blue 4 sides Has been around a couple years to work out kinks JM Grey 5 Sides Has JM name on it Is a little different than all the other clam hubs so has a little wow factor Costs about $100 more Does the JM have more insulation? Would the extra side give more of a chance of failure of hubs, or is that a non issue now?
Brad B
the JM doesn't have any extra insulation per say. they both are 600 denier fabric. the extra side and the extra hub is part of the cost difference. hub failure should not be a issue since the hub used on these is the same lab tested 11MM hub used on the other hubs in the line, plus if these hubs work in the XL6000 there is no reason to worry about them in the JM. like you already said Gray versus Blue interior that would be a personal choice. I think the gray is better for letting light in but on the flip side this doesn't help if you want to sight fish.
Kevan Paul
I have the Big Foot and love it. Both the J.M. and the big foot are easy to set up and take down. You can't go wrong with either one.
Savage Brewer
After looking these two hub houses over at the show this weekend, I would say the biggest difference is going to be how much light it lets in. The JM5000 lets more light in for sure that grey fabric is nice. Things I noticed: Insulation is exactly the same Quality of materials and construction is the same. The JM5000 has one door where the 4000T has two. The JM5000 has three vents where the 4000T has two. The JM5000 has five windows where the 4000T has four They both have built in mesh organizers. I give the JM5000 a big vote for controlling ventilation and allowing more light from outside in. That may be a downside if you sight fish. I would give the 4000T a vote for warmth, I feel the smaller space will heat up quicker, and with a blue exterior it may help with radiated heat from the sun. The JM5000 packs a bit larger and weighs a few pounds more if that is a concern, but not much more. I really like the JM5000 for sure, probably going to buy one as a Christmas gift to myself. Like Kevin said, I also don't think a person could go wrong with either of them.
JohnMickish
The 5 sides house will catch less wind than the 4 sides one. I own the XL4000 and have no problem recommending it.
amateurfishing
wife signed off on the six pack pop up at the show, she is kinda in awe, I am shocked how easy it was to put up in garage on my own, love the square footage (& hope the kids do too), while I like to mostly run & gun, trying to get the family out more with this this year
DTro
The difference between the two doesn't seem to be a whole lot considering the price difference. Wonder why they went with 1 door? I really like the fact the 4000 has 2. It was pretty nice on Sat so I opened er up and let in a little air.
MNCPRGUY
Working from memory here but I seem to recall that they have the exact same fishable space but JM weighs more. It's a nice looking house, but not enough to make me sell off the 4000 at this point.
ski_otter
thanks everybody, that's just what I was looking for. Still don't know what I'll end up with, but it will be one of these
palisade1kid
I looked both bigfoot and the JM 5000 over thouroughly....I felt like the 5 sided JM 5000 was a better fit for me...more light...more corners to fish in for those extra bodies...as to heating it...being thermal it should be easy.
