This statement right here is what sets Clam apart from the rest. A guys has trouble and BAM, things get changed.

Great products, great people and great customer service. What a great company!

Was lucky enough to find one buy me, they're going fast

Still have a bit before ice is safe around me and can't wait to give it a try, added a new 18 volt Porter Cable on top so I hope everything goes well.

Only suggestion i would add so far is replace the hard to see black and white pictures on the directions with something you can actually see, otherwise it looks like a well built item

Does this kit need to be used with a 1/2" drill driver or can it be used with a 3/8" drill?

it's not the size of the chuck that is important. what is important is the size of the motor shaft that hooks to the chuck. the adapter will need to screw on the motor shaft in place of the chuck. I don't know for sure if the motor shafts on the 3/8 chuck drills are smaller in diameter or not but they might be. what drill do you have or were thinking of getting.

Matt, have you tried an 8" blade with this kit? Or has anyone tried on this forum?

Thanks,

Eli

I just put my 8" on it tonight and ran up the road to the lake by my place to try it out. it works but you need to start the auger slower then you do with a 6". I like the 8" on it but I think I will be sticking to using the 6" on it. when using a 8" you will naturally get less holes, so expect the number to be lower.

Just need enough juice for nine holes in the ice castle or four using the portable. What kind of drill were you using. 18v or 20v

I have the Dewalt 20 Volt Max. model # DCD771 it was one of the Home Depot Black Friday Specials.

for doing that you will be fine with a 8 inch on it. a 3.0 AH battery is what is recommended but you might be able to get that many holes out of a 1.5 AH battery. I drilled four 8" holes tonight and could of easily got more if I wanted too.

Anyone happen to try the Menard's MasterForce 20volt? I can't get the chuck off (yet) and don't know if I want to go through the hassle if it isn't compatible. I had recent shoulder surgery, and my wife can't get it off either.. grin I paid 89 and there is a $40 rebate, hard to pass up abusing a $50 drill.

My wife finally managed to get the screw out and we got the collar on the drill. Sadly the $50 menards special does not work. frown The support bracket slot is a bit too low to get the Ubolt around the handle.

I might drill a hole in the bracket, or buy a known working drill.

Well I have one ordered from reeds. I know by hand my 7 inch ht auger sucks even with new blades, well see how it does with this kit If it still sucks I'm going to thow a nills on it and be done with junk HT products for life.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
