Tony Mariotti
A great day on the ice with my daughter! If you are an ice nut, like I am, it is a great reminder of why you love this! We set up on little detroit and had non-stop small gill action. With each fish, she would exclaim, "That thing is a giant, can we keep it!" We ended up throwing back most fish, and I ended up cleaning 10 tiny gills...however, it was enough for a big meal for Izzy, her brother and myself! The "blue suit" was worn, just because she wanted to wear a "special ice fishing outfit" when she fishes with dad. :-) Awesome day!

ted4887
I don't usually browse the ice fishing forums, but this was a good reminder of why I need to start doing so more often. Great post!
Tony Mariotti
Thanks! And that is exactly why I posted this....It was time to forget about "fishing" for me. This was about spending time doing what I love, with my daughter! She had a blast, and as we read books tonight, and kissed her goodnight, the "Thanks for going fishing with me" response reminded me that my kids/family need to be a much higher priority than fishing reports and pictures of "big" fish. ted4887, thanks for allowing me to respond to this. amateurfishing
THATS what its all about...the fish are just a bonus i had everything set up 2 weeks ago for wife to bring 3 kids out. 8 & 6 year old boys just wrestled on the ice and complained how cold it is 3 1/2 year old daughter however did take the pole 3 times for bout 5 minutes each. i cant wait till she gets older and i have easier time finding fish. the boys do however enjoy the open water boat time much more in warmer temps (i cant keep my 6 year old off that) on those days the camera is your best friend. good luck and enjoy
