First lobster of the year

I found my first lobster mushroom of the year. I actually found two but the other one was damaged. I didn't grab the bug spray and regretted it later. The mosquitoes and deer fly had me for lunch!

Maybe they’ll come a little quicker now that the mosquitoes have finally reached the annoying mass stage?!  They’re ridiculous now.

After this rain and heat I’m seeing shrooms pop up around the house like crazy.  Just looked out and saw a few new clusters.  Yes, my yard is shady and often wet.

I hope to find some new recipes to use the lobsters. I usually have a bunch up at my willow river land. I believe the base mushroom for the lobsters i find are russelia mushrooms. Good luck to anyone out mushroom hunting and don't forget the bug spray!

Nice find...I haven't found much of anything yet, though I haven't had the time to get out as often as I'd like.

Found my first lobster on Sunday (7-8-18) which makes it the earliest I've found a lobster around here (Deer River/Grand Rapids area)--which is odd, because everything has been pretty late this year. Found maybe a dozen Chants and about a pound of COTW. Deer flies are biblical, so that usually means things are getting going.
