Anything froze around Aberdeen???

Headed to Aberdeen for the long weekend with the inlaws... Wondering if there is enough ice to warrant bringing the portable with for a needed escape??? Anyone know if there is ice around the Waubay/Aberdeen area?

I would bring the portable! With this weather you will be able to find some fishable ice somewhere around Webster. That is the first place I look for ice. Let us know what it is like out there. If you find ice. Email me, I may have to make a run out Saturday. Scott Steil

Just talked to the folks at Fishermans Village in Waubay. Waubay froze Saturday night they said. I'm thinking there might be enough ice by this weekend to at least walk out a ways... I'll keep you posted!

There was still open water on some of the sloughs on the east side of lake Ponisett. The bigger sloughs only the bays were iced over. I would give it a couple of weeks yet. High Temps are predicted to be in the 40's this week by Thursday. If there is any wind that ice can melt fast.

I have Broke through the ice before and it isn't very fun. If you do go out please bring a spud bar to test the ice as you walk.

I hope it is frozen enough to do some fishin this weekend. The water in the Webster area does freeze hard before it freezes in the Aberdeen area. I noticed that Sand Lake was froze over on Sunday though. Let us know how you do on the long weekend.

The 40+ degrees and 30+ mph winds kept me off the lakes around Waubay. On Thursday Sportsman's Cove in Webster said that Swan had 5-6 inches. I'd guess most of that got ripped off on Friday though.

Was out to Richmond this afternoon to check the ice. About 5 to 6 inches now. Should be good by this weekend.
