Wondering if any body has been up by the bowstring, round lake, Winnie area lately and how the ice was holding up after the storms and wind that's moved threw. Looking to go up there next weekend and get some last ice fishing in as we can't even walk out down here in southern mn!

I know a guy who was up in the Marcel area last weekend. He fished 5 lakes, including Bowstring, & said he drove on all of them. There was some water on top but with this cold spell that should be froze again, Another warm up coming mid week so that will change again but ATV and / or walking should be OK.You might try posting over on FM in the Fishing Reports forum for more replies. A lot of us who fish this area use the Grand Rapids / Deer River / Bowstring forum. Google Geiger's Trails End for live webcam or call to see how their landing is holding up

my brother is up in that area fishing right now. he hasn't said how much ice there is but there all over the lake with ATV'S.

Hey thanks for the replies everybody, I called up to a few places and it sounded like trucks are driving out on most lakes around there. I'll still take the sportsman just to be a little safer though.

Sorry, I was a bit delayed on my response on this.  We were on Winnie this weekend with 28" of great ice everywhere.  We drove across the entire lake (what seemed like) 25 times.  Diesel trucks and big tandem wheel houses everywhere.
