Where to go?

I'm looking to get my dog into some schooling early this spring and was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere. I live in the metro and would prefer a place somewhat close. Any Ideas??

I have had training done by Steve Yozamp in Kimble MN. He is just south of St. Cloud. Outback Retrievers is the name and they have a HSOforum. I liked the results and his attention to the individual dog's needs is nice. Not all through the same program.

I think Dokkens, Oak Ridge Kennels, would have to be on my list. Big $$'s though.

Also , Armstrong Kennels.
Personally never been to any of these but I hear good things.

I've been curious how your yard work has been going? Good Luck!!

I know a couple of guys that do dog training. One is located just on the other side of the Mississippi in Monticello and the other is about five south of Monticello.

The one I would recommend is Tim Melham with Four Winds kennels, @ 763-226-3420
He has some really good land (fields & lakeshore) for training, good kennels, and really a nice guy. If you call him tell him that Jess Kline referred you because his land borders a private lake and I am trying to get him to let me fish on it.

The other guy is
Scott Maus just on the other side of the river. Nice guy, not as much land.

Good Luck

Mayfly, I go to Tim Landecker. He's located in Hasty which is just west of Monticello. He real good with dogs, I would recondmend him highly. I just finished some training with him and we're going back soon to continue training. He specializes in retrievers, but he will do pointers also. I can provide the phone number if your interested. I would avoid Elk River Kennels. If you have read some of my other postings concerning my lab, you'll figure out why I say to avoid them.
Who ever you decide to use, make sure to get references.

Good luck,Scotty

Blaine kennels is in my mind the only place to go. Several reasons for it; 1) DAle and company's demeanor with the animals, very soothing, calming, etc balanced with assertivenss. 2) He knows dogs and their behavior. more importantly he knows why they do what they do and how to either help it out or end it. 3) HE is honest with me--if he can do it he des if not he lets yu know. My dog was a stubborn one. 4) You can go back to him at any time for any reason and he will help you understand your dog and understand how you impact your dog. Can not say enough about Blaine Kennels.
