Recommended Posts

my son has 02 grand prix that is losing antifreeze. that is showing up on the o2 sensor

I went  to get intakes gaskets for it and they said just upper gasket.

I was looking at getting a plenum upper and lower gaskets .

Does this guy know what he is talking about?

Have you checked the plastic bypass cooling elbows that tie into the water pump/belt tensioner assembly?  They are known to crack and leak, many you tube videos and also reference on this page on repairs and checking.  Worth checking out unless you are 100 % sure it is the gaskets.  Good luck

If it has the plastic plenum replace the entire plenum. They are available aftermarket at any good parts store.

The plastic gets weak around the EGR tube and will rupture. This will cause one or more cylinders to fill up with coolant and hydrolock the engine. If your really lucky it will break off the nose cone of the starter when you try to start it.
