James Vladyka
Have you ever been standing on shore or wondering how far that fishing hot spot your buddy gave you is away? Well the Navionics Mobile App has a solution! Tap on the Distance Tool on the lower left corner of the map page and drag the 2 pins to the 2 areas and you have distance and heading!! nofishfisherman
I use that tool all the time on the Navionics App. I'll sit at my desk at work and figure out how far of a walk it is from the parking lot to the different pieces of structure I want to fish on various lakes. If its too far from the normal parking area then I start zooming in on the satellite overlay to see if there is any obvious access points closer to where I want to be. Its a very handy tool. James Vladyka
gps might have the distance tool but it definitely doesn't have the contours w/o the contours how to you know where you want to go?.
bobbymalone
it has the contours if you have a map installed on your GPS...It is pretty ridiculous that the navionics app is like $10 and a GPS map chip is $100.
BartmanMN
Been using that tool for about 5+ years now. I always use it to judge the walking distance before heading out.
LP
I've used this tool on Google earth for a few years now. It comes in handy for getting to my duck hunting spots also. I'll check the distance that I'll have to push pole before leaving for the lake. If it seems too far given the conditions of the day (too much wind) I'll chose a spot closer to my dock.
