Things have been busy in the north country! We've already picked several pounds of chants and various other summer edibles. The best picking of the season is from now through early October!

Be sure to catch Minnesota Bound on the 27th to catch some MN chanterelle madness!

I think this weekend will be the time in the Brainerd area, went to the spot I've found them the earliest around here and there were a few.   I need to check my other spots as those were starting to dry.  It's funny as last year around this time, actually a week later I set an alarm on my computer that it was Lobster season this week.....still no lobsters for me though.

Very cool, yeah at least for me and my spots it seems I'm stuck in the "Brainerd Bubble" found about a dozen chants over the weekend and a half  dozen Lobsters and that was it.  I'll try again next weekend I think to see if they are going to start up for me.

Huge bummer on the umbellatus! I would've picked the top one and made 'er work... ;) Kids picked on about in that same state that had to be cut up pretty good to get a meal out of it, but it was worth it!
