Matt Breuer
Things have been busy in the north country! We've already picked several pounds of chants and various other summer edibles. The best picking of the season is from now through early October! Be sure to catch Minnesota Bound on the 27th to catch some MN chanterelle madness! icehole10, JP Z, Tom Sawyer and 1 other
JP Z
I think this weekend will be the time in the Brainerd area, went to the spot I've found them the earliest around here and there were a few. I need to check my other spots as those were starting to dry. It's funny as last year around this time, actually a week later I set an alarm on my computer that it was Lobster season this week.....still no lobsters for me though. Matt Breuer
Picked 150 chants or so with clients yesterday, also found the first king of the year... JP Z
JP Z
Very cool, yeah at least for me and my spots it seems I'm stuck in the "Brainerd Bubble" found about a dozen chants over the weekend and a half dozen Lobsters and that was it. I'll try again next weekend I think to see if they are going to start up for me.

JP Z
Now IS the time. Decided to check my spot when I was out that way and it's amazing what 2 days of heat will do. Also, a moment of silence for the fallen Umbellatus' Matt Breuer
Matt Breuer
Huge bummer on the umbellatus! I would've picked the top one and made 'er work... Kids picked on about in that same state that had to be cut up pretty good to get a meal out of it, but it was worth it!
JP Z
The amount of tiny flies, almost like fruit flies buzzing around it made it not so appetizing.
