Boots for Dogs

I have been thinking of getting the boots for my dog but have always heard that you lose at least one.

Has anyone bought them and not lost any boots, what are the best kind?

I think I've tried every pair made and my GSP seems to lose one every time. After last year I gave up. This summer and pre season I really worked him on toughening his feet,running on pavement,I have seen a good difference in the abuse his feet take this year but there has been no hard crusty snow to tear them up either. I recently saw a pair I haven't tried,I think an AVERY PRODUCT,the boots are about 8 inches high with a tightening strap at the ankle,looked like that would be a good try. After about 6 pairs they start to be a big investment.
My dog hates anything on his feet!!!

I saw the high ones at cabelas last night almost bought them but wanted to know if anyone has had any luck.

A buddy of mine put boots on his dog and it was the funniest thing, the dog danced around, rolled around, and was biting at his feet just hated them.

But i am sick of pulling splinter out of his webs, and following bloody paw prints makes you feel bad. Doesnt slow him down any during the hunt but he his very light on his feet at night.

I have used the leather "flaps" for boots - they didn't stay on with laces and using adhesive tape is messy. The Cabela's boots that are neoprene and have a couple of straps do work OK. They stay on the dog although you may have to adjust them a few times during the day as they start to flop around.

Another experience I'v had with boots is that with conditions such as we have now,no snow and ice in the cattails, the boots seem very slippery maybe dangerously slippery for a dog on ice running. Just some thing to think about.
I know what you mean about the funny reaction my dog walks around high stepping,lifting all four feet as high as his back but when it,s time to hunt he runs as normal as ever.

I thought about these as well after we walked through a cut corn filed and ran into some sand burs (I think thats what they are caled?)
and had to keep pulling them out of her feet, poor dog wwas limping all over the place.
pulling one out even jabbed me a good one in the finger and I've been getting puss out for over a week now.
Is that how you spell that? pus or puss

DOG SHOES SUSPENDERS

you know what i was thinking maybe its dumb or already in the market but how about some kind of suspenders lol for reals something that attaches like this (X) on the back of the dog and clips to the dogs shoes just a dumb suggestion but if anyone has luck with it let me know.

Not sure if you already know the trick to attaching dog boots so here goes. You first need to put duct tape sticky side out on the dogs leg like a ring on your finger. Should be just loose enough to slide up and down on leg. Now put the boot on and duct tape the boot to the "ring". Dog should be more comfortable without tape pulling on it's fur and is much easier to remove when done hunting. Like anything new to pooch, you have to introduce this during the off season.
