Bird Dog
If I were to hunt in those conditions.I would try to concentrate on the tree belts or fence lines, draws and cattail basins.Alot of times you will find the birds concentrated in those areas I would be interested to hear back on your success.I will be heading out to N.D. on the 17th of Oct.Good luckBird Dog

Shorelunch
Will do. The only thing that bothers me is the wind. I hope they'll fly. Sunday looks a little better.I'm hunting south of Parshall in the reservation for the first time. Been going to the area for many years and have had decent luck on public land. How about yourselves? Bird Dog
I will be hunting with my brother. He made the reservations I think we are south of you on the opposite side of Lake Sakakawea.I believe that we are staying in Beulah. We might try duck hunting some too.But that will take a backseat to pheasant hunting.Let compare notes on our hunting successBird Dog
Shorelunch
Heading to western ND for the opener. The forecast for Saturday is windy, snow showers and temps in the 30's.I know the wind hurts my dog's value, but the temp/some snow should be a non-factor. I'd imagine they'd also be in deeper cover?Any thoughts?
Shorelunch
We decided to push our trip to the 18th. This weekend's weather seems better for ducks than pheasant -windy, rain/snow and highs in the 30's, but you never know, there could be a blizzard the following weekend. We've driven out there in four inches of snow and the next day we're hunting in the 60's.My uncle out there said they're supposed to be good numbers in that area.Good huntin'. BLACKJACK
Wind, rain, and snow will keep the wusses at home!! Less crowds in the public areas!! I like it! And the pheasants aren't going anywhere, rain and wind might keep them from flying into the corn so fast. Just don't lollygag with your shots, if its real windy, any birds that get going with it will be truckin!! As far as dog work goes, cooler and wet will also help them, thats one heck of a lot better than dry and hot - been there, done that, carrying water, sweating in a T-shirt, worrying about killing your dog. No thank-you, I'll take cool and wet, I can always dress for that. As far as wind, I've never found it to be that big of a factor, a good dog will work them up. I'm getting a woody just thinking about the fact that I'll be out after pheasants in less than 48 hours!!!! And SoDak the week after that!! Yes!!! Norsky
I'll be heading out to the Mckenzie ND area this fall on Nov. 5-6-7. 10,000 acres of private land to myself in the middle of the week! Lots of pheasants-can't wait to go. For all you others taking dogs up to ND don't forget to get your importation permit along with your vaccination records. The permit thing is new this year. LOW Lover
Guys,If you are taking your boat to do a little walleye fishing with the pheasant hunting, try hunting the public land that borders the big lake. Have heard that there are a lot of birds and it is not hunted much because the only way to it is by boat. What a dream afternoon, walleyes and pheasants!Let's get 'em!! CodyDawg
How was it in ND? I am headed out on Thurs to the Glen Ullin area, just south of Beulah.
Shorelunch
My uncle on the north side of the river-near the Van Hook arm- saw a few but only got one. There were some good numbers on the reservation, but a lot of hunters, too.He said Saturday was drizzly, cool and windy, but Sunday was perfect. Go figure. This weekend looks cold, too. Oh well. Beats working.
