remodeling a fish house

My first problem that i'm going to work on is the axles. This is a 6.5x12 that has no v. They put the tires at 2" back from the center of the house. the tug is very light also it has not been finished on the in side and I plane finishing the inside.

I put it up on jack stands to find the spot to move them back to but I don't know if that is a accurate way to do it.

any help will be appreciated

What I did on the house I built is put the front of my tire at the 1/2 way spot. House pulled excellent, had plenty of tongue weight, could of possibly went with less but would rater be tongue heavy then light.

I can't find it now but a recent thread suggested 60% of the way back.That would put yours at 7' & very close to where JSK76 put his.Try "Why does my icecastle pull like a tank" in the search.
