Humminbird Helix

I'm looking for a graph to put in the front of my boat with GPS in it, and the new helix from humminbird looks pretty cool without breaking the bank.

I know most of you havent had a chance to use them or anything, but has anyone heard anything about them? Good or bad?

Thanks!

I bought one for my pontoon a few weeks ago, still in the box, I will mount it soon. but for all the features this thing has its amazing they can sell it low. I got it with the GPS, and I can put chips in also.

I did some research on these and thought I had my mind made up until I went into Gander Mountain yesterday to see the units side by side. I am mostly interested in getting a unit with side imaging. For someone that doesn't have any side imaging experience I think the helix screen is going to be too small. In my opinion, the best way I'm going to learn how side imaging works is to have the 2D, DI, and SI screens all up at the same time and seeing the same thing on all different types of technology. That will tell me if I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. With the Helix, the screen is too small and the definition is poor compared to a 999 HD SI. You can't see what you are looking at very well. I think this would be a great replacement for my 597 HD/DI in regards to screen size but I feel for side imaging the screen is simply too small. Just my .02. Good luck. Nick

I bought one a couple of weeks ago, along with the Lakemaster chip. Tried it out for a bit on the dining room table. Considering my other unit is a 1995 Humminbird 100, it is pretty cool. By the way, I got the GPS/Sonar version without side or down imaging.

As soon as I get the boat out of storage, I will need to figure out how to get it mounted, I pretty sure that there is a RAM mount in my future purchases.

Does anyone know if I will be able to run both transducers at the same time without interference? I was thinking that I would leave the old 100 in place since the new unit will not be visible to all locations in the boat at the same time.
