I'm not trying to hijack your post, but has anyone tried to sharpen the blades using a grinder. If so, how did it work out for you. I've thought about giving it a try with some extra blades I have.

I've done it with a Work Sharp knife sharpener. I think the abrasive belt is a little more forgiving than a grinder is. They weren't as sharp as I remembered new blades being but they worked pretty well. Holding the blades with a needle nose Vicegrip in a way that I could use the guide for the angle was the toughest part.

Check around with bait and tackle shops. Find one that sells resharpened blades. The only I use has re-sharps for sale and offers a trade-in price for your dull ones. Last time I traded in it was $20 for a set of sharpened blades if you dropped off your dull ones. Pretty good deal IMO and you can always have a spare set in your bag .

smile Thanks for all the replies. I mailed my blades to Red Rock in Ely Monday morning. I was very surprised when I received them back today, Thursday morning. That is very fast service. I put them on the auger and headed down to the lake for the real test. WOLA!! I had 3 holes thru the ice just as fast as it was new. Kudos to Red Rock for a outstanding job. I will be sending another set soon. It is very nice to know of a local merchant that provides outstanding service such as RED ROCK OUTFITTERS IN ELY MN
