bass pro bait casting reels?

anybody try the bass pro reels with rick clunns name on them. they look like a good priced reel if they work good.

also, I'm having trouble finding good spinning reels, I am only buying in the $50 range, do I have to spend more dough? it seems like all my spinning reels have problems getting tangled back underneath the spool, you know, where you have to remove the spool and take out the greasy winds from the spindle. esp when my wife or 8 yr old use them!

good fishin folks, nice weather report the rest of the week after today

The Shimano Curado 100B is worth every penny if you can go that route (you'll likely have that reel for life). That is a bit above what your looking to spend it sounds like. The BPS reels seem to be a great value and I think you'll be happy with those. I have a bunch of the JM reels and like them a lot. I prefer the curados, but the JM reels are very nice. I also have an Extreme from BPS that is a good reel for the money.

I just bought a Pflueger President spinning reel for $55 and I am really impressed. Very smooth. Don't know thier durability because this is the first one I have owned but if they hold up I will buy more.

beeflover-
Check out the Shimano Sahara spinning reel. I believe it retails for $59.99 or $69.99. I thought Galyan's had some on sale. I bought one this spring and have been very happy with it.

Curado all the way. I have three of them and would never trade them, except maybe for a superfree model. Best reel for the money on the market by far.

Either Shimano Sedona or Sahara are great spinning reels.. The sedona should retail for 49.99... the Sahara for $59.99 I believe... The only difference in these two reels is the gear ratio... the sahara has the fluiddriveII and has a higher gear ratio...

I have Extremes and a Rick Clunn. Both are really good reels. Bps has a sale on the Clunn right now. I also have a Pfluger Trion that is a good reel. All are under $100.00. Bps usually has good sale prices on their reels. Check out their HSOforum.

i would second the Curado's. i have 4 of them and love them all.

with spinning reels i would make sure that the bails are getting closed by hand and not by turning the handle. and make sure when the fish is taking drag that they aren't reeling at the same time. that should really help reduce line twist.

Yeah, that Johnny Morris reel is pretty freakin sweet. It was cheaper than my Curado SF. (on sale) Id recommend it to anybody lookin for a baitcast reel. As for a spinning reel, you should check out the Daiwa Capricorn. Ive used Shimano spinning reels all my life, and after a while, theyd start to make noises. They werent that smooth after a couple months use. The Capricorn is on par with the Shimano Stradic. It retailed for $115, but I got mine at Joes for half off. Really sweet, smooth reel. Its a little lighter and smaller than the Stradic. Check it out.

For that price a sahara or a president are sweet reels, with the president, 10 bearings, you cant go wrong with that. Another really sweet spinning reel in a Quantum energy PT. The curados are pretty nice reels too, has any one though of buying a CAl-A?
