Average Tourny Weights - MN

You can check out classicbass.com and view their tournament results. It will show the number of fish (5, 6, or 8 fish limit) and the total weight. It normally takes about 18-20lbs for a five fish limit to win at most events.

I was wondering what an average winning tournament wieght usually is in Minnesota for bass tournaments. Do the winners average about 4-5lbs a fish? or is it usually 2-3lbs. I know that some lakes do produce better quality bass than others, but I just started fishing bass tournaments(will be starting later this summer), and am just wondering what it takes to finish high in a tournament. Thanks.

Like you said, it totally varies from lake to lake. Some lakes 10lbs will win and others it takes over 20.

If you average 3-4 lbs, in most tourneys you will be near the top. But to win, you'll almost always need that 1 kicker fish to push you over.

Good luck!

One big thing its going to depend on a team format or draw(where you compete against the person in the boat). You are going to have heavier weights in a team format. I would say in a team format you will have to get that 3-4+ to win.. but in a draw it often drops down into that 2-4 lb average to win often.
