walleyeking19
I have a Jiffy Model 30 and this will be my 3rd season with it. A family friend owned it before so I know it was taken care of very well. Now at the end of last season and now at the beginning of this season, whenever its been sitting out in the shed too long and it gets cold, it usually wont start. If I bring it into the house for 5-10 minutes to let it warm up, it'll usually start on the first or second pull. What could be causing this? It's kind of a pain that it wont always start when its cold cause thats the only time I use it. Any ideas?
Luke_M
It could be that the fuel pump diaphragm in the carb could be getting stiff with time and the cold makes it worse. Or it could be the carb just needs to be adjusted. Are you using non oxy fuel? Ethanol eats up the thin diaphragms in the carbs.
walleyeking19
I usually use the 91 octane gas for it. I'm wondering if cleaning carb will fix it. Not sure when that was done last

Even if you get 91 octane it is still probably 10% ethanol. You may have to rebuild the carb and use non oxy gas.
fishinfan
It could just be old gas. Old gas starts easier in warm weather and is too broke down to handle cold weather. Just a simple fix that I would try first.
leech~~
My buddy has an older Jiffy Model 30 and got it new. The thing has always started hard but will drill holes like a bat out of ha11 once started!
