Fish2500
My ultra shack came with winch straps to lower and raise the house. Any ideas what to replace them with if one breaks?
aanderud
If it was me, considering the beating the cables on those houses take and the amount of salt they see, I'd probably replace with any of the synthetic winch rope options available. It usually costs as much as 3-4 bucks a foot, but considering how few feet you actually need it seems like a no brainer. Amsteel blue makes some that's got a breaking rating of like 36500 lbs (a 9/16 inch rope) and they want about 4-5 bucks a foot for that beast. I doubt you'd need to go that heavy though.Do a google search for 'synthetic winch rope' and they are one of the options that comes up a lot.Quote:FeaturesMade with genuine Amsteel®-Blue synthetic rope (Dyneema)85% lighter than steel wire cable30% higher breaking strength than steel wire cableSafer. Whopper Stopper
I went to Fleet Farm and bought a couple of tow straps. I then took it to Wyoming canvas and had him sew each end. Worked great. How old is your Ultra Shack? Just curious. WS
leech~~
Wouldn't a boat trailer winch strap work for a replacement?
jerkbait
Wouldn't a boat trailer winch strap work for a replacement? Yes, that is what they used on the ultra shack.
