Pheasant report

Hunted the South Dakota opener. 9 guys ended up with 20 birds. Most of the corn is still in but was very pleasantly surprised at the number of birds around. Much better then last year when we had 12 guys and only got 9 birds for three days. When the corn comes out I am sure the hunting will only get better.

Saw a total of 6 birds (heard one other but couldn't flush him) in 2 hrs of hunting yesterday.

My pup had his first point on a wild bird and I blew it. Easy shot but obscured by brush. I wasn't prepared. Didn't think he was actually on one but oh well.

4 roosters 2 hens. Only 2 roosters and 1 hen flushed near us. The rest were just passing by. Encouraged by this because there was a ton of corn.

Just curious were you hunting public or private land? What part the state? Glad you to hear you got some birds, I opted to stay home mostly because of the crowds but it was also a little on the warm side and I decided to play it safe.
