What range do you guys run? I understand there are variables like depth, screen size...but what do you find the default range to the sided you mostly use? I don't think I've ever run max at 150'and usually find my self running less around 30-50. Do you see a lot of clarity when going out further?

What size screen? 5 inch I run 50 ft on 998 probably 75 foot. Are you looking to see fish or structure? Weeds and bottom changes are easier to see at wider settings. Narrow it up to see fish or structure in better detail.

Day in, day out, whether its my 997, or the 1197, or the 1198, my range is set to 70 feet.

I just learned to recognize things at that range.

75 feet, but mostly because I do a lot of muskie fishing and I can easily cast much further than that. Usually try to keep the weedline 30-50 feet from the boat.

I usually run 90 feet to each side on full screen with either a 8 or 10" screen. To much info to be looking at on a small screen.

I run it 150 feet both way till I find something worth looking at then usually take it down to 75 or so.. less if needed.

I like it around 60' in depths less than 20', and run 75-100 in deeper water (1198)

I just run 150' I don't use this feature too often unless I want to look at structure a bit better.

Fish, scan size reduced; structure, scan sized increased.

I've been running it at 50', but next year I'll be increasing it to ~80' or more
