Jigging rap walleyes are on fire!

I've had good luck with them a couple times this summer. One day in August I was just goofing around dropping it over the side of the dock in 2 1/2 feet of water while talking to my wife and hooked a 25.5" walleye.

I have been casting them and hopping/popping them back to shore. Crappies, perch, pike and walleye all hitting them. Play with the technique a bit. Some times a drop to bottom and sharp snap gets them going and other times it can be a gentle swimming up and down that they will like. One thing I noticed was many of the eyes would follow it in close to shore before hitting or waited for a change in technique when out deeper. So change it up and if they don't work change up like with any other bait.

I wanted to say depending on the day the fish will slam the rap and then other days,(sometimes next minute)the fish will just lip the rap.Change up pitches arent just for baseball!!!c63

A few summers ago I tied a jigging rap on while jigging for walleyes on LOW and

it turned out to be our go to jig when the bite gets tough, we also use this approach for deep basin crappies, the puppet minnow also works well.

There is a guide up here on the LOTW by the name of Steve Sweet of Sweetsfishing. He's been in the guide biz for like 30 years and that guy can put on an absolute show some days with a Jiggin Rap. I like 'em when they're snappin good. When it's tough I'll use a Cicada, seems to tick them off enough to bite most times.
