Jdawg sk1
I used a really old retired pot and my propane plumbing torch. Placed in the wheel weights blasted them directly with the torch till they all melted and picked out the clips. Then I just pured it into the cavity
highlife4me
An old coleman stove works too. You only need to get around 650. Just make sure you work with the molten lead in a well ventilated area.

jasonmichalski
I used to use a lead pouring dipper and a blowtorch, now I use a lee lead melting pot.
pikestabber
I use the Lee Precision Melter, just the right size for a hobby decoy maker. About $40 online, give or take. Get a ladle for $5, too. They work well. Here's the one I am talking about: I used to use a torch with a cast iron pan, but this one melts fast and even and keeps the lead molten until you shut it off. It really is money well spent.

mainbutter
Am I correct that you use a dipper or ladle to get molten lead out?Mwal Some lee products have a spout to pour directly out of the bottom of the melting pot. This is great because it gives you good control of your pour, and by pouring from the bottom you pour pure lead rather than any contaminants that float to the top. I use some pretty junky lead for my slingshot ammo, fishing jigs, etc and have to skim the top of the pot after melting some new scraps. Neighbor_guy
I have a "Hot Pot 2"It does what I need it to do, cost bout $35 if I remember right. I did get burned a couple times, but it will happen even if you are trying hard to be safe. This is not a kids toy that's for sure.
