Chumba
Ok so I know a bag limit basically means at least the next day and after all fish you posses are consumed. So say you go fishing on just a standard walleye lake. Catch 5 16" Walleyes that you keep, and then one 32" fish of a lifetime. Some people say a replica is just as good but ok it's in your legal right to keep the fish. At what point is that fish no longer considered part of your limit? Once it's frozen, once the taxidermist has it, once you have the mount back?Like I said silly question, just curious
highlife4me
Good question, how about if you already have one over 20" hanging on the wall you cannot keep another? I would be fine with that too.

kfk
What's the limit where you're fishing? If it's 5 walleyes, the 32 incher legally has to go back anyway. But say you legally kept it, if it's frozen and still in your freezer, the way I understand it, according to the regulations, it's still counts toward your possession limit. I'd say it is no longer in your possession after it gets to the taxidermist. From the regulations: "Daily and possession limits are the same unless otherwise noted. Fish arein an angler’s possession whether on hand, in cold storage, in transport, orelsewhere."
monstermoose78
They changed the law about this and it is once the fish is mounted and does not have be to frozen anymore.

jigginjim
Once the fish has been done by taxidermist the fish is consumed, not part of a bag limit. As it's no longer in your freezer. It would be no more difference than if you gift fish to a neighbor. Though everybody says as long as it no longer in your freezer. How can CO's tell if you ate the fish? they can't find it.
