Charmglow grill won't fire up

Tom7227

Question

I have a 3 burner Charmglow grill that is about 3 years old. I can't get any gas to flow. I have two refilled 20lb bottles. The burner would light but only a short flame. I thought it was likely the regulator so I replaced it. Now I can't get any of the burners to light. Any ideas on what is going on?

Thanks for your time.

Tom

sounds like the fuel line is vapor locked. I encounter this from time to time when exchanging tanks. When this occurs, I loosen the tank connection until i can hear fuel escaping from the opd valve on the tank, then retighten the connection to the opd valve on the tank, try opening burner valves and should hear better gas flow and attempt relight. Sometimes it takes a couple tries before gas is flowing normally again.

good luck.

Ok, I went out and tried again. Two 20 lb tanks that are full. Old regulator and hose and new regulator and hose. No combination works. I even tried with the hoses disconnected from the grill and no gas flows. I don't get it at all.

Gentlemen: A handy item to have around your gas grills is one of those little cans of compressed air you find at office supply stores. I need not go into detail-you'll figure out how to use it.

Insects are attracted to the fumes of gasoline and propane.

Good hint, but I would think the insects would be more attracted to all the grease running, dripping and built up all round a well used grill? wink

Are you getting a good tight fit between regulator fitting and tank fitting? Could be damaged threads not allowing the quick couple to screw on all the way. Could try it with a channel locks to get a better grip, just don't over do it.
