e collar for a vizsla

We are going to pick up our puppy next weekend. I am just starting to research e collars. I am thinking of going with a dt brand. This will be my first pointer and I am curious if the e collars with the beepers are practical. My thought is they will scare the birds to flush when they beep but I can also see where it would be helpful. Any input would be appreciated!

Most beepers have multiple modes. You can have them sound when ranging and on point or only while pointing. They also have different sounds from beeps to hawk screech.

I actually turn my beeper on and off from the remote. I only turn it on so I can locate my dog then turn it off again.

i have the dogtra 2502 T&B system for my 2 pointers and I haven't had any issues with the beeper scaring or flushing birds while the dogs are on point.

If you want one with a beeper, make sure you can turn it off and on from the transmitter.

Another option is one of the newer gps and training collar combinations. Then you have no beeping at all. I have used beepers in the past and I wonder if they contribute to the dog eventually going deaf.

I have the dt collar with the deeper. Great collar. I also had a dogtra 2000 t&b. Great collar until I lost the controller.

I think I will try a pointer after i get my lab trained in. I use a basic e collar for the Lab, however I think I will want a GPS collar for the pointer when I get that far.
