Investigation begins into alleged theft from Sno Barons’ Hay Days

By Jon Tatting

April 9, 2014

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into an alleged theft of up to $120,000 from the snowmobile club that runs the annual Hay Days event near Almelund.

The complaint was reported just after 8 a.m. Thursday, April 3, at 38740 Oriole Ave. in Sunrise Township, the grounds of the Sno Barons Snowmobile Club’s Hay Days. The complainant said she discovered an estimated $50,000 to $120,000 had been stolen, allegedly, from 2012 to 2013 related to the snowmobile drag race event.

The case has since been referred to the sheriff’s office’s investigations unit, which may look into having an audit done and setting up interviews with those who had access to the club’s financial record.

Because the matter is under investigation, no further information could be reported at press time. The Post Review follows the policy of not publishing names until a suspect is officially charged by court complaint.

This is old news but the first I had heard of it. I hope they can still pull off their event this year that's coming up soon? frown
