hi i want to mount another depth finder up front on my bow mount motor. i was told the regular transducer will work with a zip tie type mount but they shake and won't work as well. i can get a puck style but they cost about $80 for the ducer beside the cost of the finder. i only wanted to spend about $100 only reason i want one up front is because i cant read the one in the back of the boat real well and twisting your head gets old. if it cost more than a hundred or so i can deal with it what do you guys think any advice.

"they shake and won't work as well" ??? Shake? Not if it's done right. You can certainly use the transducer you have. Just because someone tells you it will not work as well doesn't mean it won't. Try it yourself and see before you spend more money on it. Zip ties, hose clamps, electrical tape, all will work if you do it right.

I'd at least spend a few bucks and get one of these. It's a bracket specifically designed to mount your transom mount transducer on the bow-mount trolling motor. I had one on my old trolling motor, and it worked awesome...

I eventually got new electronics, and upgraded to a shield/mount like this that fits my specific transducer...

If the transducer has a metal bracket; then slightly bend the ears, run a hose clamp thru them and around the trolling motor.( mount between the keel and the blade) If plastic; I had to modify mine slightly by grinding a bevel on the inside so it would snug up to the motor. I used electrical tape to secure the coax to the shaft leaving enough slack by the top so it doesn't pinch.( tried zip ties, but had trouble then picking up weeds)
