On my fish finder (fish-n buddy), bass supposedly suspended at 2ft and 6ft of water. Max depth at 10th ft. Bass are holding close to stumps/trees/branches. Tried swimbait, jigs, chatterbait, fluke, 10inch ribbon worm, wacky and crank. They are not taking. Saw a guy pull a 5 lber from the area as soon as I left.

What else can I use to attract them? About to bust the float and fly on them soon.

Buddy claims there are no fish there since nothing is caught. I trust my fish finder at about 75%.

This matches the farmers almanac prediction of slow bite. Very slow.

Drop shot. I know you are talking suspended bass but more often then not there will be some close to the bottem too. Put a 2' leader on the drop shot rig if you have to that way the baits two feet from the bottom. Drop shot fishing is by far my most productive way to fish in the summer consistently.

If they're close to cover but up off the bottom, a light (1/4 to 3/8 oz) jig with a bulky trailer to slow the drop speed. Pitch it in, and feed line as it drops so the fall is vertical and close to the cover. Especially if it's darker water, they hold pretty tight to cover.

What I'd start with at least...

I would question what your fish-n buddy is telling you. If you are only in 10' or less, first I would expect some bass to simply scatter by your presence but also the area your sonar can actually see at that depth is not very big, your basically seeing a few feet either side of your transducer. I would imagine many of those "fish" are simply branches in this timber you're speaking of. If they are indeed fish they could be anything. Carp? Panfish?

Also, if you are that shallow and right over the fish they are going to be on alert and harder to catch. Make sure you are staying further from the structure you're fishing to have a better chance of getting bites.

Another tip is to not put much stock in the Farmer's Almanac. Read up on weather patterns affecting a bite and you can have a much better idea going into a trip what kind of mood the fish will be in and methods you'll want to start with.

Are you using the side scan portion of your fishing buddy? Do the fish move on the fishing buddy? Are you using fish ID? My experience with traditional sonar and fish in trees is that tree branches can look like fish, especially if you are moving, and if you are not moving, i.e. your fishing buddy is mounted to a dock, the fish should move a bit eventually. Also, I don't trust traditional sonar for seeing fish in trees/weeds 100%. Traditional sonar can trick you. I remember the first time I used an Aqua-Vu, it was on a hump that we were convinced at nice big weed clumps all over it based on what we saw on the sonar. Put the camera down and there were virtually no weeds short of sand grass and a few single strands of weeds that looked like weed clumps on the sonar because they weren't lying vertical.
