Lots and lots of bugs. The skeeter's are the worst I've ever seen them. Bug spray, hooded sweatshirt and a small mountain of cigars are helpful.

The blue berries are thick as thieves and look great this year. We are up in area 24. Bear sign seems down a little bit but there could be many reasons for that lack of sign.

I was up near McGregor this weekend, and there's literally bears everywhere. The guy that baits for us has more pictures of bears than ever before, and they're all different sizes and colors. I really wish I had gotten a permit (or even remembered to apply) this year.

Hayes Lake State Park and Bemis Hill area are thick with berries of every kind. Wild edibles everywhere, but of course, many of these will be disappearing before the season gets too far along.

Bear should be sweet and tasty this year being so well fed.
