What are Lowrance guys supposed to do?

I have the last lakemaster chip supported by lowrance, lowrance lake insight pro 2012 and navionics platinum chips. I can assure you the lowrance and lakemaster chips are identical with one exception. The lowrance chip includes lake of the woods rainy while lakemaster makes you buy separate chips. I've used them side by side on lakes all over the state and I cannot find any differences. Oh, the contour lines are purple on the lowrance chip instead of black on lakemaster.

It doesn't hurt my feelings at all that lakemaster isn't offered for lowrance after using the other options.

Kyle, Johnson Outdoors owns Lakemaster, Humminbird, MinnKota and Cannon.

I know. That is why your analogy did not make sense.

As pointed out above. LM and the Insight are the same or similar enought that the difference doesn't matter to the public. Plus there is Navionics.

So Johnson Outdoors has no product to sell to Lowrance owners. Seems like a bad business decision to intentianally exclude a large customer base.

I'm done. Believe what you like.

Based on Lake Vermilion, I have concluded that there are at most two sets of data around for depth maps. For some lakes, probably only one.

On Vermilion, Lakemaster or their agent surveyed the lake and did a map with 3 foot contours. A few years later, Navionics or their agent did a survey at 1 foot contours. I don't believe that anyone since has surveyed the lake.

But now that the various companies are encouraging us to survey the lakes and pay for the privilege I would presume that the data might become somewhat different over time.

I'll be back on Vermilion soon with a lakemaster chip in one unit and a Insight chip in the other. It will be interesting to see if the reports of identical data are upheld.

That would be interesting to see. Although, the Insight might be newer data because the LM has to be older.

I have both Navionics and the LM for Lowrance and have been known to swich back and forth on Vermilion because they are quite different. Sometimes the Navionics is just too much information.

It would be good to find out if the newer Insight has changed.

Del, I have used the navionics, lowrance and lakemaster chip on vermilion and from what I have seem the lakemaster and lowrance chip are indeed the same.

I fish mainly the cook end but have fished the tower side a bit and both seemed identical. 3 ft contours.

Do some bench testing at home with two units or flipping chips in one unit and take pics with your phone to compare.

Sorry, my phone is so dumb (how dumb is it?) It is so dumb I can work it, it is so dumb it doesn't have a camera. It is so dumb I only paid $16 for it with no contract. (I got a whole bunch of these) rim shot.

One unit is on the boat and the other is in the cabin. I am on west end also. I will just have to eye ball it, with a unit on the bow and one on the console.

Feel free to flag me down if you see me. green old 1775 pro vee with 140 suzuki and merc kicker on back. I usually have on a near white tilly hat.

Yes I believe so. Navionics is way different. Not sure why the lakemaster chip is yellow like that. Thought it may be some setting I had but couldn't figure it out. I never use that chip anymore just the lowrance and navionics.
