Although I should I dont wacky rig much, so take my opinion for what its worth. However I exclusively use braid and you cant beat its sensitivity. I fish a lot of spinners, cranks, top water stuff, but I also fish a lot of swim baits (like a yum money minnow), texas rigs, and some jig n pigs. Ive tried using some mono and just couldnt do it, it felt like it was fishing with a rubber band. Just my opinion though!

I've NEVER wacky rigged on anything other than braid or braid with a heavy fluoro leader.. I can't keep the esox off my senko knockoffs.

Yes it works. Yes you get bites you don't feel at first, but there are lots of fish there when I give the bait some action again.

I use braid and also tried on flouro, and I don't think flouro works as well as it sinks so fast. I agree that mono just feels too much like rubber band. But I am going to try it again this year with slightly heavier mono and longer spinning rod to try to get longer casts for clear water smallies.

I do usually tie on a 4-6' section of mono or flouro to my braid, as I fishing mainly in gin clear water and I think it helps. (Granted I was catching walleyes on a huge circle hook tied direct to braid this spring in the same water... go figure...)

I just like the ease of quick tying hooks etc to the mono/flouro over the braid, and I do think the less visible line helps me get more bites.

Wouldn't be first choice to use braid but it will work. You just won't feel the bites necessarily on slack line. Just watch your line, the nice thing about braid is it's easy to watch and what you might not feel you will see. I personally use a copolymer, but that's just me. Best thing really is to try it and see what works for you, no real right or wrong line really IMO.

I will say this, fished El Salto in Mexico in 2010 using braid with senkos for 7 hours, caught 60+ fish. The set up the guide used was a bait caster, 20 lb power pro tied to a barrel swivel with a 2' flouro leader. The theory was the braid floated so they needed the swivel for a little weight and the flouro for invisibility and allowed the senko to fall naturally and not fall on a pendulum motion given the floating braid. If that makes sense.
