Rubber roof?

Been thinking about building a fish house, and knew a lot of the users on here have rubber roofs. How do you like them? How do you put them on a fish house? If you had pictures that would be awesome, I'm knew to all this stuff. Thanks

Just put the house in storage for the year. Otherwise I would have taken a couple pics for you. I have RR. I have 3/8 plywood for my roof, take off all the sharp corners and clean it really good. Get a pail of glue and 10x20 roll of RR and go to town. When you hang it over the edges get the termination bars and screw them in and then take off the excess rubber with a utility knife.

Might want to watch a couple videos on TUBE to get some answers.

One tip I could offer.... Dont try to save money on the glue. The cheap stuff is a pain to work with. Get the more expensive stuff. Menards has two brands. The more expensive stuff is way more easy to work with.

kevfish- I'm curious to know which you call the good stuff that's easier to work with. My guess is you like the super sticky contact cement type. I talked a few times to to the tech guy at Roofkit and he says hands down latex is the product to use, but only if done right. He stands by that even in the road use we give our houses. Latex is, to me, a lot easier but I'm sure 90% of the people on here will say use the contact stuff also. I used latex on my last one the way he told me(allowing time for set up) and everything has been fine, no bubbles or lifting. I think the edge seal is the most important step of all, if air doesn't get under it it can't lift. Mine really bonded tight. He told me if done right with latex that you'll pull the wood roof apart trying to get the rubber up. This is just food for thought because I'm sure not an expert, all my friends told me to use the contact cement style too.

I think he means the latex, as that was the more expensive last time I bought it. I used the contact cement once and it was a complete hassle. The latex is way more user friendly, and makes it nice and easy to get the roof totally wrinkle free.

I agree with the latex. My roof turned out great using the latex product. One thing I will suggest is to have a few sets of hands when laying down the rubber. I did the roof with two friends. We each were on a step ladder and were able to get good contact and no bubbles. Having those extra hands also made installing the termination bar an breeze.

I used the Menards rubber roofing with the latex contact cement and it worked very well. I also did thing a little different. I installed a piece of PVC board flush with the top of the roof. Then I routed the outside edge of the board so the rubber roofing wouldn't be pulled over a sharp edge. It worked very well, made it easier to pull the rubber tight and I think it looks great.
