When somebody realized he could sell a chunk of plastic with some foam in it for $30. smile

But I'm with you...I love using planer boards. Add a light to them and try them at night. It's a lot of fun.

$30? i bought mine with the pop up flags for $18.99.

love it when your cutting a nice V and the flag goes down.

Just started using them for first time this year. Wow they are so easy to use, and they work. Whish I would have used them earlier.

When did the planer board craze start.

Bean a while since I have used them. My dad had some 25 years ago or so, and I always thought they were more work than they were worth, as we would catch as many fish straight under/behind the boat as we would off to the side. Maybe if I fished more in shallow, clear water they'd be a bigger game changer.

Try and fish water like Green Bay without boards and you'll be pretty humbled by those running boards.

Planer boards are easy to use but there is a learning curve. Once you have it figured out it's allot of fun, especially where you can use 2 or 3 rods per person. My advice is to replace the front clip with either a Off Shore snapper or the Church clip, also convert to a tattle flag if you haven't already done so.

As our water gets clearer, its going to be more important to get your lures out from under the boat.

Well Here in Iowa you are allowed two lines. There is also an option to buy a 3rd line which I have. This spring I started to run just one planer board off each side of the boat to get a better spread of the lines so I wouldn't get tangles. Just by getting those lines farther from the boat, I truly believe I'm catching WAY more fish then when i just ran the lines by the boat.

I run up to 6 lines out of my boat without issues without boards. Personal I think they are a pain at night plus a hassle when alone... I still cover a 26 foot spread without boards. And catch fish...

I run 24 lines off my boat and cover a 300 foot spread and also catch fish wink.

If everybody was the same the world would be a boring a place.
