I took some pics of these last week out back in the pine trees...they don't seem to mind pine needles either.

And heres what 15 days will do. This is one of the first one I found out back this year..

Well my spots are done for the year!

Went out for one last check the other day and almost got picked up by all the "state birds" out there!

Dead/dying elms may be the best spot to look for morels, but they are by no means the only trees to check. Cottonwoods, cherry, ash, and maple produce morels, too. One of my most consistent early spots by Iowa City is a very large, and very much living, maple tree.

I have a nice photo of stand of big yellows ringing a small cherry tree if I can find it...

Well it has really greened up now and I think its over for me. I did a little polking around the yard yesterday after dinner and found this little thing. The flys were all over it but it was very much alive. I went back to check towards dark and it was gone.
