SmellEsox
I thought global warming was going to flood our coastal cities and eventually lead to the extinction of humanity. I doubt whitetail deer will cause a worse scenario. Anyways, we are hardly asking for dpsm numbers that will destroy the landscape. Current goals in the north are probably fine. Population goals along the transition zone are way too low. In these areas, there isn't a lot of pristine forest remaining. Why not have a few more deer in the area. smsmith
Drove from east of Long Prairie on west aways, then north to Browerville, through Staples, Motley, Pillager, Brainerd/Baxter, Nisswa, then back through Little Falls and back to my place east of L.P. yesterday.Know what the entire drive had in common? Fantastic, unbelievable habitat. Just one small sample of central(ish) MN....but that entire area has far, far better habitat than many areas of central(ish) WI. IMHO it borders on unethical and immoral what the MN DNR has done (and encouraged hunters to do) to the deer herd in the transition zone of this state edited to add...I should have included a drive from my place to Grey Eagle, Sauk Centre, Burtrum, Swanville and Upsala the day prior..... They've been given a Cadillac, and are driving it like a Yugo.
Pinusbanksiana
The statement "Deer are worse than global warming" is pure hyperbole....nothing else Depends on your opinion of global warming I guess.
