might be able to get into a used nikon DSLR 3100 with an 18-55 lens online for around 300. canon probably has something in the same range also. Maybe add a lens in the future some time. having had a few non SLR cameras I really like the SLR! On my second one.

Yah....I'm just being silly. You guys will provide some good advice. Last digital I had was the D-50 and half dozen lenses. Before that it was F4s, HP3 and Leica M3. So that shows you how far behind the curve I am! LOL.

not the best way I say... toooooo spendy ! smile

For crisp exposure and proper tones, film is still the only way to go. Most pros still shoot tons of film. I still shoot slide film for certain situations.

As far as being spendy, great shots are priceless.

Goggle the comparison in your interested.

VERY few pro. wildlife photographers shoot film on a regular basis, very few wedding photographers shoot film, ect. I'm not saying every one but very few, and why would they.. I certainly wouldn't be taking 1500+ images aday at retriever events if I was using film, there would be alot of missed moments.

Maybe we could keep the topic on a camera for Pikestabber77 smile

Are you looking for a point and shoot or are you trying to get into a DSLR? I understand your budget is $300 but you didn't specify what type of camera you are looking for or what type of subjects you will be trying to capture. That would be helpful, thanks.

Also a search in the Photography section here will show quite a few posts with your specific question already discussed.
