Hope springs eternal or is it... Here fishy, fishy, fishy.

I regret I do not have a photo, but late and loved Lab Annie had a contest going for several years with a dogfish that lived under our dock. Early, calm mornings while I sat and sipped coffee Annie and the dog fish would play "stare down" The dogfish would see Annie looking over the edge of dock and slowly rise up to the surface, within a few inches of the top and just hang there for several minutes staring up at Annie. Then the fish would drop back down to the bottom and repeat the exercise while Annie remained mesmerized! She never made any move to grab the fish or go in after it. But she WOULD spend a lot of time on occasion trying to grab one of the many sunfish that hung around. She never (to my knowledge) caught one but she never gave up trying.

And she'd never quit on a downed bird either. I still miss her.

But the new little girl is a personality all her own and she would have gotten along well with Annie.
