help with question about rod selection

monster after monster but if you watch closely, why does he have a spinning rod on his deck?

my only thought is he maybe he's bed fishing big hog bream between pigs!

Why can't he be using it for finesse bass? I've always got a spinning rod or four rigged and ready. Kinda interesting to see the rods and tackle boxes don't change from day to day.

That video sure got my juices flowing for open water! Some dang nice fish!

Spinning rods? Hmm. Interesting observation. Could be pulling out sunfish and bluegills out of the way--that is one of those possible theory. However, I ain't the fisherman in the video--yet it would not hurt to ask him.

bed fishing, sight fishing, dock fishing, flick shake, shaky head, drop shot..........the list goes on and on........there is a spinning rod on the deck of my boat 99% of the time regardless of how I am fishing

I use a spinning rod for flukes, wacky rigs, tubes, grubs. Sometimes for jerkbaits.

To catch bass. As others have said plenty of techniques he could be using with it.

I've caught up to 6 lb bass on 12 lb flouro and spinning gear.

Thrill of my life was a 43 in muskie on the st croix fishing a jig and minnow on 8 lb xt.

But it's not my first choice for big fish

Did you guys ever catch Ish Monroe's 2012 bassmaster elite win on lake okeechobee? He is a big bass specialist and calls spinning rods "the fairy wand". I use a spinning rod all the time for bass, but I started using the same terminology for spinning equipment.
