bathroom ceiling options

We have an un mudded sheet rock ceiling sprayed with stupple that the wife says must go . I know I can spray water and peel of the stupple with not much effort but then I will expose the unfinished sheet rock.I don't like the thoughts of mudding the ceiling and the sanding mess involved, are there any other suggestions on how to finish a ceiling ?

You could always use 1/4" MDF nailed to the ceiling with construction adhesive to hold it and then use batten strips to cover the seams and a cove molding around the ceiling perimeter. The other alternatives that come to mind are a suspended ceiling and those acoustical tiles that you install by putting 1x2 furring strips on the ceiling at 12 inches on center and stapling them to the furring strips. I suppose wallpaper might be an option but you would still need to mud the joints.

Depends on the style of your home...I have T&G pine in one bathroom and cedar in the other. Scrap off any big chunks and you should be able to go right over.

I'd think some sort of T&G is your best bet. Could paint it white and I'm sure it would blend in with most styles alright.
