Anyone throw the RC Stick or KVD Jerkbait?

I've thrown both. Love the colors of the RC Stick but man the hooks are terrible. I've had numerous fish straighten the treble hooks. I've also heard that the split rings are bad but I haven't experienced that yet. I think they are decent for the money and you could just put new trebles on them.

I wasn't to happy with the KVD jerkbaits. I only bought one and it definitely did not suspend. It would float up on the pause. It could have just been the one I got. But if I am going to spend $10 on a jerkbait I might as well spend another $5 and get a Lucky Craft.

I do like the action of the RC stick and might buy a few more and just replace the trebles. I definitely would not fish them without changing the trebles though...you will lose fish.

I have fished both a lot. Both are good, the RC is a lot easier to throw in the wind. I never had any issues with the hooks with mine, but I am also not catching 6 pound smallies like bassfishin24..........

For the money I think a RC is tough to beat, but then again you can catch a ton of fish on a rouge which is even cheaper.

I have more jerkbaits than my wife needs to know about, varying in price from Husky Jerks to Megabass. I feel the RC sticks catch as many fish as anything out there. Cast great too. I have had one come apart but that poor bait got a work out before the tail split. wink I happen to like the light wire hooks. I feel these style hooks will pin more of the fish that don't eat the bait. Smallies especially like to "head butt" a jerkbait. I keep my drag set at a point where it occasionally slips while working the bait. I fish the RC's and the standard hooks right out of the box and replace hooks as necessary like I do with all my jerkbaits.

I can only imagine what your jerkbait collection looks like now Superduty.

KVD schooled them on MLF in his elimination round throwing his jerkbait, he sure was rippin it. Wonder if it is better suited to a fast rip retrieve versus letting it sit and suspend.

Might just buy more EEratic Shads and Mcsticks.

Along with Pointers when I can get them under 10 bucks on BBC.

I picked up a couple of RC Sticks a while back. Agree on the hooks. They aren't the best but can say that about quite a few baits frankly. In the water, it was 50/50. One worked pretty well and I did catch some fish on it, though to be fair I didn't fish it a ton. The other one sank. And I don't mean 'slowly descended in an enticing manner' either. I mean it *sank*. Like a rock.

Another bait I like a lot is a Jackall Squad Minnow. Similar to a pointer both profile and price, but a good bait.

A jerkbait that's always flown under the radar is the Strike King Wild Shiner. Have had some days where they outfished a Pointer badly. Not the most durable, but they're $5, so...

I need to try the Eeratic shads. Have a friend who swears by them.

That was sure fun to watch. I laughed when he kinda shook his head at the size of his lead and said, "it ain't that hard."

I threw the KVD for the first time last fall and really liked them. The trebles stuck every fish really good but made for some difficult hook removals from pike and then lost my 2 KVD models to pike. Caught some nice smallies that day too.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
