Cracked Wave plate!!

Recommended Posts

Well, not sure if I caused it or not pulling my sled trailer up to the North shore and back last week? But, on Monday Chk eng light went on, no Rev, and slipping in forward! Brought it in and they said that I have a cracked wave plate and it will be about $2,855 and a week to fix it at the Chev dealer! I just bought this 2009 Vue with only 72,000 on it about 3 months ago and have not even really beat it yet! And of course it is about 5 months past the 5 year 100,000 mile power train warr! Anyone ever have a wave plate break and what can I do to sotp it again? Would a tranny cooler help? cry

This is pretty common with these models:

2008-2009 Buick Enclave

2008-2009 Chevrolet Equinox, Malibu

2009 Chevrolet Traverse

2007-2009 GMC Acadia

2007-2009 Pontiac G6

2008-2009 Pontiac Torrent

2007-2009 Saturn AURA, OUTLOOK

2008-2009 Saturn VUE

All Equipped with 6T70/75 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (RPOs MH2, MH4, MH6 or MY9)

The part has been "updated" to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the info on the improvement Jeremy. Looking on line it does appear to be a large issue with the design and many people were trying to get GM to do a recall on it. But, since it was not a safety issue it was never done. My last SUV was also a Saturn Vue which was a 2006 where they had used a Honda motor and drive train in them. I sold the unit with a 185,000 miles on it and tow my boat, Dirt bike and Snowmobile trailer up and down this state at 70mph for about 5 years and never had it in the shop for any thing! And people wonder why US auto's are not doing well. The 2009 GM motor and drive train only has 73,000 miles on it! frown
