hamms-scooter
The 270 is so great not sure you can top it with the money you would have to spend, that and added weight for nothing. I like the 270.
walleye44
I have heard good things coming with this motor. Its sounds like this will be for people that want to have the 3 hp -3 1/2 hp. I am excited to see it run. My 270 is super fast. I guess welcome to lighting fast?
Kodiak
i turned a adapter on the lathe to mate up my nils auger with my strike lite powerhead..it works great,,i only use it for the real thick ice cause the nils bit is real long no need for an extension
Fred_Bear
Has anyone used the new bigger motor nils? Wondering if it is any better it cost a fair amount more. Just wondering. I'm really curious on how the larger 350 Tanaka will perform compared to the 270. I'm expecting it to be smoother but slower than the 270 with an 8" or smaller Nils auger. I think the 350 will be a powerhead to turn larger diameter, more aggressive augers like a 10" Lazer.WHY??Even though the 270 has more displacement and more HP, it is a different kind of power output. The 270 is a drill powerhead (24:1 gear reduction for high RPM, low torque output)The 350 is an earth auger powerhead (41.1 gear reduction for low RPM, high torque output)They are very similar motors but very different transmissions. This is just speculation and no one will know until there are some videos of them side by side with a Nils Auger attached.
