Jdawg sk1
What is your favourite portable shelter for spearing from. I'm going to try spearing for the first time next months and I'm thinking that my shelter might be kind of small I've got a frabil frontier hub style shelter and found it kind of small for regular ice fishing . Main problem was that I forgot to drill first then place the shelter ( it's a little short) . Im thinking of getting something a little bigger this year and just wondering what direction you suggest to go .

Gordie
My favorite is the fold up kind with plywood on each end, but I really am starting to like those quick fish type models.
MJ1657
I switched from a fold up plywood end to an Eskimo Fatfish 949I. I usually have 2 or 3 people with so the extra room in the Eskimo is awesome.
dan z
I would think any hub house with a black interior would work. The bigger the better but then heating it is a little tougher. Cabelas has some pitch black hubs √ them out.
MJ1657
It was -37 when we hit the ice on Winnie a few weeks ago and I only had my big buddy on high about half the time. I'm amazed how well the insulated hubs hold heat.
Neighbor_guy
I have one of the all black hubs from the big C store. 72" cube made by clam. It works good for me and sometimes I bring my goose along. It gets tight with two adults. At some point I will get one if those insulated fat fish houses. But for now, I'm good with what I've got. lungdeflator
My brother in law has an insulated fat fish. Pop up style hub that is very warm. The extra room around the base does make a big difference, we can fit 4 people around a 30"x40" hole comfortably. Black interior makes it plenty dark. JC26
I have a 4X6 Mankato that I really like! It doesn't take to much longer than my flipover to set up and seems to be much warmer with the old thick canvas
